Sesame Seed Cookies
Cookie Recipe Directions
Gather Ingredients:
- 2 cups softened butter or oleo
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- 3 cups flour
- 1 cup sesame seeds
- 2 cups coconut (optional)
- ½ cup finely chopped almonds
Prepare Dough:
- In a bowl, cream the butter.
- Gradually add sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
- Add flour and mix until just combined.
- Stir in sesame seeds, coconut (if using), and nuts until well mixed.
Shape Dough:
- Divide the dough into thirds.
- On a long sheet of waxed paper, shape one third into a long roll (2 inches in diameter).
- Repeat with the remaining dough.
- Wrap rolls and refrigerate until firm.
Bake Cookies:
- Preheat the oven to 300°F.
- Cut the chilled rolls into ¼ inch slices.
- Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for 30 minutes.
- Remove cookies to a wire rack to cool.
Yield: About 6 dozen cookies.
