Ingredients:

Option 1:

  • 2 cups flour
  • A good pinch of sea salt
  • 2/3 cup chilled butter, diced
  • 1 egg

Option 2:

  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 stick butter
  • 4 tablespoons ice water

Steps:

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Gather all ingredients listed above.

  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine flour and salt.

  3. Add Butter: Cut in the chilled butter (or stick of butter) until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. Add Liquid:

    • For Option 1: Add the egg and mix until combined.
    • For Option 2: Gradually add ice water, mixing until the dough comes together.
  5. Form Dough: Shape the dough into a ball.

  6. Chill: Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before using.
