Pastry Dough Directions
Ingredients:
Option 1:
- 2 cups flour
- A good pinch of sea salt
- 2/3 cup chilled butter, diced
- 1 egg
Option 2:
- 1 1/4 cups flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 stick butter
- 4 tablespoons ice water
Steps:
Prepare Ingredients: Gather all ingredients listed above.
Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine flour and salt.
Add Butter: Cut in the chilled butter (or stick of butter) until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Add Liquid:
- For Option 1: Add the egg and mix until combined.
- For Option 2: Gradually add ice water, mixing until the dough comes together.
Form Dough: Shape the dough into a ball.
Chill: Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before using.
