sugar cookies


 Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup butter (softened)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla

Directions:

  1. Prepare Dry Ingredients:
    Combine 3 cups flour, 2 tsp baking powder, and 1/2 tsp salt in a separate bowl.

  2. Mix Wet Ingredients:
    In a mixing bowl, cream together 2/3 cup softened butter and 1 cup sugar.

  3. Add Eggs:
    Mix in 2 eggs until well combined.

  4. Combine Mixtures:
    Alternate adding 1/3 cup milk and the dry flour mixture. Mix until fully combined. Add 1/2 tsp vanilla and mix completely.

  5. Chill Dough:
    Chill the dough in the refrigerator, then roll it out on a floured surface.

  6. Cut Cookies:
    Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes, using flour to prevent sticking.

  7. Bake Cookies:
    Preheat the oven to 350°F. Bake cookies for 8-10 minutes, until faintly golden brown and firm in the middle. For crunchier cookies, bake until golden brown and hard.

  8. Cool and Decorate:
    Allow cookies to cool before decorating.
