 Apple Pie Tortillas Directions

Ingredients:

  • 21-ounces  apple pie filling
  • 4 (8-inch) flour tortillas
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup margarine
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Ice cream and/or whipped cream (optional)

    Apple Pie Filling Instructions

    Ingredients for Apple Pie Filling:

    • 6-8 medium apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
    • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
    • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

    Instructions:

    1. Prepare the Apples:

      • Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin wedges.
    2. Mix Ingredients:

      • In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and flour.
    3. Toss:

      • Toss the ingredients together until the apples are evenly coated.
    4. Cook (Optional):

      • If you prefer a softer filling, you can cook the mixture in a saucepan over medium heat for about 5 minutes until the apples begin to soften. Let cool before using.

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Spoon apple pie filling evenly onto each tortilla.
  3. Sprinkle cinnamon on the filling.
  4. Roll up each tortilla tightly and place them seam side down in a lightly greased 8x8 baking pan.
  5. In a medium saucepan, combine margarine, sugar, brown sugar, and water. Bring to a boil.
  6. Reduce heat and simmer the mixture for 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
  7. Pour the sauce evenly over the rolled tortillas.
  8. If desired, sprinkle extra cinnamon on top.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
  10. Serve warm, topped with ice cream and/or whipped cream.
