STEAMED GINGER PUDDING

 Ingredients & Quantities

  • 1 ¾ cups Self-Raising Flour
  • ¼ cup Margarine
  • ⅓ cup Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Baking Powder
  • 2 tbsp Dried Milk
  • 1 tbsp Ground Ginger
  • ½ tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
  • ¼ cup Syrup

Method

  1. Rub the margarine into the self-raising flour.
  2. Add the sugar, baking powder, dried milk, ground ginger, and bicarbonate of soda (keep the bicarbonate separate for now).
  3. Warm the syrup and mix it with some water. Then add the bicarbonate of soda.
  4. Combine everything to create a very loose mixture.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased basin or tin.
  6. Cover it and steam for about 1.5 to 2 hours.
