Ingredients & Quantities
- 1 ¾ cups Self-Raising Flour
- ¼ cup Margarine
- ⅓ cup Sugar
- 2 tbsp Baking Powder
- 2 tbsp Dried Milk
- 1 tbsp Ground Ginger
- ½ tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
- ¼ cup Syrup
Method
- Rub the margarine into the self-raising flour.
- Add the sugar, baking powder, dried milk, ground ginger, and bicarbonate of soda (keep the bicarbonate separate for now).
- Warm the syrup and mix it with some water. Then add the bicarbonate of soda.
- Combine everything to create a very loose mixture.
- Pour the mixture into a greased basin or tin.
- Cover it and steam for about 1.5 to 2 hours.
