Apple Crescent Roll Braid

 Apple Crescent Roll Braid Directions

Ingredients:

  • 1 pkg (8 oz) refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 2 T flour
  • 2 medium apples
  • 1/3 C sugar
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp cloves
  • 2 tsp butter or margarine, melted

Glaze:

  • 1/4 C powdered sugar
  • 1 T milk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough and place it in the bottom of a 9 x 13 inch dish.
  3. Lightly sprinkle the dough with flour.
  4. Roll the dough to seal the perforations and flatten it.
  5. Peel, core, and slice the apples into quarters.
  6. In a bowl, combine sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Add the apple slices and toss to coat.
  7. Place the apple mixture down the center of the dough, about 2 inches wide.
  8. Cut 10 slits, about 3/4 inch wide, on each long side of the dough surrounding the apple mixture.
  9. To braid, fold the strips of dough at an angle across the apple mixture, alternating from each side.
  10. Fold the ends over to seal the braid.
  11. Melt the butter (do not boil) and brush it over the braid.
  12. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
  13. For the glaze, combine powdered sugar and milk in a bowl. Stir until smooth.
  14. Pour the glaze over the warm braid and serve.

Makes 10-12 servings.
