 Keftedes Directions

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef (80% lean)
  • 4 slices white bread
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
  • 1/3 cup fresh oregano (finely chopped)
  • 3 tablespoons fresh mint (finely chopped)
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 eggs (beaten)
  • Kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Oil for cooking
  • Rice and tomato sauce for serving

Steps:

  1. Prepare Bread: Soak the 4 slices of white bread in 1 cup of milk until soft.
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, oregano, mint, garlic, beaten eggs, and soaked bread (squeeze out excess milk).
  3. Season: Add kosher salt and black pepper to taste. Mix everything thoroughly.
  4. Shape Keftedes: Form the mixture into small balls or patties.
  5. Cook: Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the keftedes until browned and cooked through.
  6. Serve: Plate with rice and tomato sauce. Enjoy!
