white cake

 Ingredients:

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour a 9x9 inch pan or line a muffin pan with paper liners.
  3. In a medium bowl, cream the sugar and butter together.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. In a separate bowl, combine the flour and baking powder.
  7. Add the dry mixture to the creamed mixture and mix well.
  8. Stir in the milk until the batter is smooth.
  9. Pour or spoon the batter into the prepared pan.
  10. Bake for 30-40 minutes for the cake or 20-25 minutes for cupcakes.
  11. The cake is done when it springs back to the touch.
